About the Role for Nurse Manager

  • Nurse Manager – Directs the activities of the nursing department. Oversight of the nursing team to ensure scheduling and administrative duties are completed timely.
  • Complies with requirements of the Company and ensures that services are provided in a manner consistent with established standards of practice, federal and state regulations, accreditation standards and agency policy.
  • Interprets and implements policies and procedures of the agency and oversees the selection, development, and monitoring of nursing staff.
  • Directs the supervision and evaluation of all personnel who provide direct patient care and directs all human resource issues related to nursing and allied health services personnel, including recruitment, performance evaluations, disciplines, and terminations.
  • Ensures the agency adheres to state and federal disciplinary guidelines. In the absence of the Operations Manager and/or Director of Operations, acts as the office administrator alongside the pharmacy manager. Additionally, fulfills the role of Administrator and/or Director of Nursing for the home health agency, in line with Medicare Conditions of Participation. Moreover, takes on the responsibilities of Facility Infection Prevention Coordinator, guaranteeing adherence to all regulations, rules, and standards pertaining to infection control practices.

Leadership and Development

  • Ensures that all nurses providing care maintain the professional standards of nursing practice.
  • Aids the Area Director of Nursing and/or Director of Operations, firstly in crafting, subsequently securing approval for, and finally implementing the department’s operating and expenditure budgets, while consistently operating within those established guidelines.
  • Responsible for the coordination of patient services with the pharmacy, delivery, reimbursement, and other departments both internally and externally.
  • Initiates and guarantees the procurement and rapid delivery of medical supplies and equipment, adhering to budget limitations. Additionally, engages in the evaluation, oversight, and communication of nursing operational and financial information to the Area Director of Nursing, Regional Nurse Manager, and/or Director of Operations. This involves analyzing trends and formulating plans for process enhancements, ensuring a seamless and efficient workflow.
  • Gathers and arranges essential information specific to each patient to evaluate their eligibility for home care. Then, assesses the compatibility of patients with home care, following Option Care’s guidelines. Furthermore, confirms that both the patient’s health status and the recommended treatment align with home care criteria. Moreover, offers ongoing training to medical professionals, including physicians, nurses, and pharmacy technicians, on issues related to home care infusions, covering both skill development and orientation initiatives.
  • Oversees and takes part in the on-call duties for the nursing team, while also orchestrating patient care and services in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy. Additionally, establishes a clinical network for the agency, serving as a vital clinical resource throughout.

Education and/or Experience: Licensed Nurse (RN)

  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization in the business community and with vendors.
  • Experience applying knowledge of standard practices for all services offered as well as current relevant and applicable standards (i.e. Joint Commission Standards, ACHC standards).
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards of services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Basic PC skills: Able to competently use internet, email, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Experience in identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve and improve processes.
  • Access to a reliable means of transportation which will enable the incumbents to travel to care facilities, home visits and multiple hospitals. If such means of transportation would include a personal vehicle, a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance would be required.
  • Able to plan, organize and make presentations.
