About the Role for Director of Nursing

  • Leads as director of nursing department’s activities, also ensuring the nursing team fulfills scheduling and administrative tasks promptly for efficiency and organization.
  • Complies with requirements of the Company and ensures that services are provided in a manner consistent with established standards of practice, federal and state regulations, accreditation standards and agency policy.
  • Interprets and implements policies and procedures of the agency and oversees the selection, development, and monitoring of nursing staff.
  • Directs the supervision and evaluation of all personnel who provide direct patient care and directs all human resource issues related to nursing and allied health services personnel, including recruitment, performance evaluations, disciplines, and terminations.
  • Maintains agency compliance with state and federal guidelines for disciplines.  Serves as office administrator with the pharmacy manager in the absence of the Operations Manager and/or Director of Operations. Serves as the Administrator and/or Director of Nursing of the home health agency per Medicare Conditions of Participation definition. Serves as Facility Infection Prevention Coordinator, ensuring compliance with regulations, rules, and standards as they relate to infection control practices.
  • Ensures that all nurses providing care maintain the professional standards of nursing practice.
  • Assists the Area Director of Nursing and/or Director of Operations in preparing, securing approval for, and implementing operating and expenditure budgets for department, and operates within those guidelines. Responsible for the coordination of patient services with the pharmacy, delivery, reimbursement, and other departments both internally and externally.
  • Initiates the acquisition and swift delivery of medical supplies within financial limits. Additionally, takes part in evaluating, managing, and reporting on nursing operations and finances to key leadership, which includes identifying trends and formulating strategies for process improvements.
  • Gathers and sorts patient-specific data to evaluate home care eligibility, ensuring compliance with Option Care policies. This includes confirming the appropriateness of patients’ medical conditions and therapies for home care. Additionally, it involves providing ongoing education to healthcare professionals on home infusion care, emphasizing competency and orientation.
  • Manages on-call duties within the nursing department and collaborates with the Director of Pharmacy for patient care coordination. Also, establishes a clinical network for the agency, serving as a key clinical resource.

Education and/or Experience: Licensed Nurse (RN)

  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization in the business community and with vendors.
  • Experience applying knowledge of standard practices for all services offered as well as current relevant and applicable standards (i.e. Joint Commission Standards, ACHC standards).
  • Brings experience in offering customer service to both internal and external clients, focusing on adhering to quality standards and assessing customer satisfaction to foster service improvements.
  • Basic PC skills: Able to competently use internet, email, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrates expertise in pinpointing operational challenges and proposes, as well as executes, plans to refine and enhance procedures.
  • Ensures access to dependable transportation, allowing for travel to various healthcare settings. Additionally, if utilizing a personal vehicle, one must have a valid driver’s license and insurance.
  • Able to plan, organize and make presentations.
